Meet The Team

Mia Finch - Duty Yard Manager and Level 6 Equine and Canine Vet Physiotherapist/Hydrotherapist

Mia combines a lifetime of elite animal handling with advanced clinical expertise to oversee daily operations at Rookery Equine Ltd. Her journey began at age 14 in catteries and kennels before she dedicated her career to the equestrian sector.
Mia spent five years in the racing industry traveling to national race meetings, followed by three years managing stallions and youngstock on a stud farm. Her extensive background also includes working alongside an international showjumper, competing in the showing world, and caring for farm and zoo animals.
As a fully qualified Veterinary Physiotherapist, Mia bridges the gap between top-tier yard operations and specialized equine recovery. She manages all aspects of livery care, designs tailored rehabilitation protocols, and maintains clear, supportive client communication. Alongside her on-site responsibilities, Mia leads our ambulatory services, traveling directly to client yards to provide professional physiotherapy assessments and treatments.
An experienced horsewoman, Mia has broken in and produced multiple horses, and has competed in showjumping, dressage, and cross-country. Outside of the yard, she spends her time with her own horse, Diego whom she broke and trained herself whilst also keeping fish and studying wildlife.
Esme Usher - Duty Yard Manager and Level 6 Equine and and Canine Vet Physiotherapist/Hydrotherapist
Esme started her career in the showjumping industry, and branched out to work with racers, eventers and breakers, before returning to the showjumping world full time. Alongside her work at the yard, she also works as an international showjumping groom, giving her a wealth of experience working with horses in high-pressure environments and at competition level.
Highly organised and practical, Esme enjoys working as part of a team and getting to know each horse as an individual. Her main passion is working with and developing performance horses, whether that’s supporting them through rehabilitation, improving their strength and way of going, or helping them return to their best.
Her degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy combined with her attention to detail creates a new level of confidence when designing and executing unique rehabilitation programs. Esme’s years breaking and backing horses taught her that every horse will teach you something new, and she still sits on anything fizzy, even if they’re slightly unhinged. Away from work, Esme spends her time researching new technologies and techniques in the equine and canine world, When not researching she’s usually at the pub, where you’ll probably find her enjoying a dry rosé.

In addition to her professional expertise, Grace is an accomplished showjumper competing up to 2 level*, giving her a unique rider’s insight into performance, comfort, and the subtle signs of discomfort under saddle. She combines hands-on rehabilitation techniques with precision tack fitting to support horses both in recovery and peak condition.

Her dedication to horse welfare and performance has earned her a place as a 2025 finalist for Fitter of the Year at the prestigious Equestrian Business Awards.

When Grace is not working or riding her horses, she is an avid bookworm, enjoys crochet and enjoys playing netball in her spare time.

Victoria Wallace - Practice Manager

Vicky is one of the co-owners here at Rookery Equine and is often the first point of contact for clients, whether you're reaching out by phone, email, or social media.

Before opening the doors at Rookery, Vicky worked with the North West Ambulance Service as part of their first response team, a background that brings calm professionalism and genuine care to everything she does. She moved to Cheshire with her family in 2016 and has played a central role in shaping Rookery ever since.

Vicky is deeply passionate about equine health and innovation. She’s always researching and introducing new technologies to help horses recover more fully and efficiently from injury. Her commitment to cutting-edge care led her to found Cyto Cure, a therapy brand built on years of hands-on experience in the equine rehabilitation sector.

At Cyto Cure, the focus is on comfort, safety, and scientifically trusted technology, offering horse owners user-friendly products that are easy to use at home.

In her day-to-day role, Vicky also manages client documentation and works closely with insurance providers. Over the past eight years, she has achieved a 100% success rate in helping clients secure insurance payouts after treatment, a testament to her diligence and care.
