Red and NIR Light Therapy

Red light therapy utilizes light-emitting diodes (LEDs) or low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to stimulate cellular activity and achieve therapeutic benefits. Red light waves, which are the longest wavelengths visible to human eyes, penetrate the body to a significant cellular level, with shorter wavelengths reaching the mitochondria of skin cells and other cells located beneath the skin's surface.

Red/NIR light therapy provides two central mechanisms for improving cellular function and overall health:

1. Stimulating ATP Production

Red/NIR light therapy stimulates ATP production in the mitochondria by interacting with a photoreceptor called cytochrome coxidase.

2. Creating a Temporary, Low-Dose Metabolic Stress

Red/NIR light therapy creates a temporary, low-dose metabolic stress (known as hormesis) that builds up the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cell defense systems of the cell.

Red light therapy is most effective for treating skin conditions, mild inflammation, local pain, and accelerating surface wound healing. It does not produce heat or cause adverse side effects, and almost all wavelengths of red light provide some benefits. However, wavelengths between 650nm and 850nm demonstrate the most healing power.

For rental, we advise you contact us before purchasing to ensure the product is available for hire. We do require a £339 deposit which will be returned once the product is back with us and inspected for any damages or disrepair. In the event that the goods do get damaged whilst in your care, the product will be returned to you and the deposit retained by Rookery Equine.
